Over 500 cows have been recovered by the Zamfara State police command from suspected cattle rustlers in the state.
The state Police Commissioner, Alhaji Tijja Baba who made this known in an interview with Vanguard, at Gusau, the state capital, explained that his men recovered the cows following intelligence reports from some patriotic Nigerians in the state.
Baba further said that the police also recovered two A-K47 riffles and other dangerous weapons from the cattle thieves, following a raid of their hideouts.
In the process of the raid, dozens of cows were found in the bush, while two suspects were arrested with the two AK-47 riffles and some sharp knives.
The state police boss said that all the recovered cows were currently under the custody of the command, adding that, “my men will not relent in their efforts to making the state crime free.”
He explained that the 24-hour patrol currently going on in all parts of the state would continue until crime was completely wiped out in the state.
