Nollywood actor, Muyiwa Ademola, is a popular face in the Nigerian movie industry, particularly the Yoruba segment. In the industry, Ademola, also known as Mr. Authentic, is rated as a successful movie maker and director. The 44-year-old is regarded as hardworking, having produced and starred in many movies.
Recently, the famous actor bought a Land Rover Discovery 4, the picture of which he shared with his fans online. The car costs about N9m in the auto market.
For those who truly appreciate Land Rover for what it represents and its line of vehicles for its uniqueness, they would know the LR4 mixes off-road capability with on-road refinement.
The vehicle also provides occupants with numerous luxury amenities and successfully exudes both the upscale ambience of a modern luxury vehicle and the rugged sense of a serious off-roader.
Though not without faults, the 2013 LR4 maintains the British company's standing as one of the foremost specialists in this narrow market segment and offers more value than many of its rivals that don't have anything near its off-road capability.
One of the most overwhelming initial impressions of driving the 2013 Land Rover LR4 comes from its high and upright seating. This, combined with its large windscreen, provides some of the most unencumbered sight lines one can find in any type of vehicle. Rear-seat passengers don't get cheated either, its stadium-type seating and tall roof mean superb comfort similar to the expansive feel front-seaters enjoy.
Performance
The 2013 LR4 is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine that makes 375 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque, good enough to conquer just about anything it finds on- or off-pavement. A six-speed automatic is the only transmission offered and it distributes power to the LR4's full-time four-wheel drive.
The vehicle's Terrain Response System allows the driver to optimise performance by choosing between these settings: general; grass/gravel/snow; sand; mud and ruts; and rock crawl conditions, which conditions it to the task at hand. It enables it to adapt to different driving conditions.
When properly equipped, it can tow 7,700 pounds (about 3,490kg) of weight. In Edmunds testing, the LR4 accelerated from zero to 60 miles per hour in 7.5 seconds and it came to rest from 60mph in 126 feet, an average distance for a luxury SUV. Fuel economy, however, is pretty poor, with EPA ratings of just 12 miles per gallon in the city, 17mpg on the highway and 14mpg in combined driving.
Features
It has standard seating for five and optional third-row seat for additional two passengers, bringing the seating capacity to seven. Standard features include 19-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers and leather upholstery. Other features include dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless ignition/entry and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel.
This SUV is filled with plenty of high-tech features, including a five-camera system that offers 360-degree park assistance, giving the driver a surround view of the vehicle, beyond where the eyes can see.
Driving the LR4 offers a memorable experience with its Bluetooth phone and streaming audio, an 11-speaker stereo with touch-screen control, an in-dash CD changer, two USB ports, an iPod interface, an auxiliary audio jack and powered front and rear sunroofs.
The optional features available are 20-inch wheels, LED daytime running lights, interior ambient lighting, front parking sensors, rear-seat climate control, rear-view camera, music server and a hard-drive-based navigation system with voice control and real-time traffic. Others are rear-seat entertainment system with wireless headphones, six-DVD changer, satellite and HD radio.
Safety
Standard safety features on the SUV include traction and stability control (with rollover mitigation technology), child safety locks, hill-descent control, hill start assist, driver and passenger airbags. Others include front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags that also encompass the third-row seat on the optional package.
The good: The LR4 is suitable as a family vehicle and a jungle tool for its excellent on- and-off-road capability, beautiful interior, spacious cabin with excellent materials and powerful V8 engine. The controls are large and easy to use and understand.
The bad: Reviewers complained that its weight hampers acceleration and makes its fuel economy low.
