Music producer Olatunde Ajimajasan, aka Tobbydaniels, shares his journey, experiences, and insights in this exclusive interview.
Tell us about your background.
I was born in Lagos, Nigeria, but my family moved to Ibadan, Oyo State, shortly after. I’m the third of six children. I pursued my education at Christ Standard International School and African Church Grammar School in Ibadan. Later, I studied Music and Economics at the Federal College of Education and completed a degree in Economics at the National Open University.
Music, however, has always been my passion. I started playing the keyboard in church as a child, which gave me my first taste of music production. Even in school, I was the music prefect. I’ve been on this journey since day one, and I have no regrets.
How has your first year in the UK been?
It’s been amazing. I’ve had incredible opportunities to collaborate with artists like Bayo Daniels, Bukola Arnny, Moses Bliss, TaymeTee, Dipo Vocals, and Abby Godwin. These collaborations helped me refine my production skills and adapt to different styles, from worship ballads to energetic praise songs.
Every project has been a unique journey, requiring me to understand the artist’s message and audience. It’s been an honor to contribute to the UK gospel scene, and I look forward to doing even more.
Tell us about working with Falz on his UK tour.
I’ve always been a fan of Falz, so working with him during his UK tour, “One Night with Falz,” was surreal. As the producer for Jam&Bread, a top Afrobeat band, I was tasked with recreating several of Falz’s songs for live performance.
I meticulously created backing tracks, cues and guides to match his style, ensuring the show ran smoothly. Falz attended our first rehearsal and was impressed with the tracks I’d prepared, which was a huge confidence boost for me.
The entire experience was transformative. Falz’s artistry and professionalism pushed me to elevate my craft and the success of the tour reaffirmed my passion for music production.
What international artists would you love to work with?
There are so many—Tems, Asake, Davido, Tyla, and Ella Mai. I think working with Ella Mai would be especially magical. I’m a big fan of R&B, and blending my Afrobeat background with her soulful sound would create something extraordinary.
Closing Thoughts
My first year in the UK has been a groundbreaking chapter in my career. From collaborating with gospel icons to touring with an A-list artist like Falz, I’ve gained invaluable experiences. I’m excited for what’s ahead and look forward to creating music that continues to inspire and connect people worldwide.
